88 YEARS IN LACONIA

JUNE 11 - JUNE 18, 2011!!
The tranquility of the area surrendered to the thundering roar of thousands of every conceivable type of bike during this nine day event of organized festivities. Bikes, trikes, scooters of every shape, size and color that one could possibly imagine transcended upon the Lakes region for the 88th. edition of Bike Week. By the way, it is interesting to note that 1916 was actually the first year of an organized motorcycle event in Laconia. So, how did they arrive at this being the 88th.year? Some years were missed (a total of seven) due to World War II and other problems. These don't count. The last missed year was 1975.

The weather kicking off the Eighty-eighth running of the Laconia Motorcycle Rally cooperated nicely and gave us all a great day to get out and explore the area. However, it seems that all good things must pass as did our fine weather, leaving us with a healthy dose of gloom and doom. The dreary days that followed did not seem to dampen the spirits of of those wanting to get out and enjoy the music provided by the numerous bands,grab a brew or two and a few T shirts. On a brighter note, for a brief time we had to ourselves a rainbow across from the motel. Pretty cool!

WATCHING THE WORLD GO BY!

A favorite activity. We offer our guests prime up-close seating to observe the constant stream of bikes and non-bikers as they parade past the motel. I would have to say that most of the fun of the event was in observing the crowds that congregated along the roadside and those on their way to the events.

Remember ... We want our guests to feel like they're visiting family ... and we hope they feel right at home.

Many took time out to visit some of the numerous natural and cultural attractions of the area. The Lake Winnipesaukee Motel and Weirs Beach is within an hour's drive of the historic Shaker Village, White Mountains, the local and ocean beaches and numerous historic villages of New England. Each day, organized groups of bikers set out on daily treks to explore the winding country roads lined with old stone walls that led them to small towns with their hostoric structures and quaint shops. It doesn't get any better than this and what makes the area so special!

CHILLIN' OUT ...
The motel parking lot was closed off, leaving the space for "BIKES ONLY" for the final weekend. This helped us patrol the area while giving easy access in and out of the motel to our guests. Most of the guys here made their annual trek in from the state of New York.

Bikes of nearly every flavor grace the motel during this time every year. I would say tho, that those of us who prefer the best and ride Goldwings are lost in the vast sea of Harleys.

FIRE FIGHTERS FROM CANADA. Our guests arrive from all over the country, and this is a great opportunity for friends to re-unite and hang out for a few days.

Sadly, but it comes only once a year ... Vintage Racing Motorcycle show, Belknap Vintage Classic Races at Gunstock, Road Rallies, Vendor booths, lots of food, live bands and fireworks.

We rent by the week, or in blocks of days. The beginning weekend of bikeweek we rent in 2 - 4 day segments. For the latter part of the week, we go from Wednesday through Saturday.
